An average TH18 level costs about 60 times an average TH9 level. Levels 71 to 95 take 7,825,000 Dark Elixir, more than half of his total.

Why TH17 Is His Hardest Step

For the King and Queen, TH18 is the most expensive Town Hall. For the Prince it is TH17: that Town Hall adds ten levels, and each one takes 8 days.

TH16: the first long timers

Levels 71 to 80 take 7 to 7.5 days each, 72 days 12 hours in total.

TH17: 80 days of upgrades

Levels 81 to 90 cost 290,000 to 380,000 Dark Elixir each. Together they cost 3,350,000 Dark Elixir, more than any other Town Hall.

TH18: five levels left

Levels 91 to 95 cost 400,000 to 450,000 Dark Elixir each. If he is already level 90, he needs 40 days to max.

Minion Prince vs Archer Queen Upgrade Cost

The Prince's first 30 levels cost the same as the Archer Queen's. From level 31 each of his levels is cheaper. At level 40 he costs 45,000 Dark Elixir against the Queen's 55,000.

The Fifth Hero and His Skins

A common complaint among players is that the Prince still has fewer standout skins than the four original heroes, and that several older themed skin sets, released for the King, Queen, Warden and Champion together, were never extended to him.

  • Skins are cosmetic. They don't change his damage, hitpoints, upgrade cost or upgrade time, so every number on this page stays the same whichever skin you use.
  • Keep upgrading while you wait. A new skin can arrive at any level, so there is no reason to pause his upgrades for one.
  • Check the in-game Shop. Skin offers change with each season and event.

Planning His Upgrades

  • Max him before moving up. Each Town Hall adds ten levels; finishing them first stops him falling behind.
  • Start the 8-day levels during Hammer Jam. From level 81 every upgrade takes 8 days, so half cost and half time save the most here.
  • Plan around the King and Queen. All three use Dark Elixir, so avoid starting their big upgrades on the same day.
  • Town Hall first, then the Hero Hall. A new Town Hall unlocks the next Hero Hall level, and that Hero Hall level unlocks his next levels. Have the Hero Hall upgrade ready to start as soon as the Town Hall finishes.

Where my Prince stands (MoonLight ID #9280QPL8G): level 90 of 95 at TH18, so 2,110,000 Dark Elixir and 40 days are left. I mostly play ground attacks, so the Prince is not in my top four hero priorities. I start one of his levels only when a Builder is free and I don't have enough Gold or Elixir for other work, such as a defense upgrade. Once my Barbarian King, Archer Queen, Grand Warden and Royal Champion are maxed, I'll upgrade him without a break. I know some air attackers rank him first because he fits the armies they use. The Prince only joins my army when the Warden is upgrading. He isn't a like-for-like replacement, but it keeps my attacks going. He's at his best in complex air attacks, where he fits straight into that style of play.
