    Key Takeaways

    • The Workshop has 9 Siege Machines, from the Wall Wrecker at Town Hall 12 to the Sky Wagon at Town Hall 17. All of them are researched with Elixir.
    • Maxing all nine from level 1 costs 490,700,000 Elixir and about 315 days of Laboratory time, before boosts.
    • Each Workshop level unlocks one machine at level 1. Every level after that is Laboratory research; the Workshop itself does not need upgrading again.
    • Sky Wagon is the most expensive to max (77,000,000 Elixir for only 3 paid research levels after the free unlock). Troop Launcher is the cheapest (35,500,000 Elixir, 23 days).
    • Wall Wrecker, Battle Blimp and Stone Slammer cost exactly the same to max: 48,500,000 Elixir and 34 days 12 hours each.

How the Siege Machine Calculator Works

Pick a machine and set its current and target level; the Elixir and Laboratory time update straight away. To plan several machines, open Advanced and add each one to the research queue.

    • Level 1 comes from the Workshop. Building or upgrading the Workshop unlocks the next machine. Research starts at level 1 → 2.
    • Same Laboratory as troops and spells. Queued research runs one level at a time.
    • Elixir only. There is no Dark Elixir cost for any Siege Machine, so the calculator shows Elixir and Laboratory time.
    • Boosts. Gold Pass and Hammer Jam change cost and time. Research Potions only change time.

Workshop Levels and What Each One Unlocks

The Workshop is upgraded by a builder, not the Laboratory. Each level adds one machine, so the building costs 88,800,000 Elixir and 49 days 12 hours in total across its nine levels.

Workshop 9 alone costs 26,000,000 Elixir and 13 days 12 hours, twice the Elixir of Workshop 8.

Sky Wagon: The Newest and Priciest Machine

The Sky Wagon is the latest addition to the Workshop and the only one locked behind Workshop 9 at Town Hall 17. It has just three research levels, but every one of them costs more than any level of the older machines except their final ones.

    4 (max)29,000,00016d16TH18
    • About 25.7 million Elixir per research level, roughly twice the Battle Drill (13.9 million) and over 2.5 times the Wall Wrecker (9.7 million).
    • Unlocking and maxing it costs 103,000,000 Elixir in total: 26 million for Workshop 9 plus 77 million of research, and 53 days of builder and Laboratory time.
    • At TH17 you can only reach level 2. Levels 3 and 4 need Laboratory 16, which arrives with Town Hall 18.

Siege Machines vs Troops and Spells

All Laboratory research shares one queue and, for Elixir research, one storage. Siege Machines are the smallest of the three Elixir research lists:

ResearchElixir, level 1 to maxLab time
    19 Elixir troops1,532,595,000about 1,478 days (all 32 troops)
    10 Elixir spells586,975,000about 684 days (all 18 spells)
    9 Siege Machines490,700,000315 days 12 hours

Most machines' last level needs Laboratory 16, so the final levels usually wait until Town Hall 18.

    Which Machines to Research First

    • Research the machine your war army uses. Most players rely on one or two machines; maxing those first matters more than spreading Elixir across all nine.
    • Use your clan. Clanmates can donate machines you rarely use, so you don't have to research every one yourself.
    • The cheap three finish fast. Wall Wrecker, Battle Blimp and Stone Slammer each max in 34 days 12 hours, so one fits between long troop upgrades.
    • Save Hammer Jam for the last levels. Final machine levels cost 17,000,000 to 29,000,000 Elixir, where half price saves the most.

My game progress (MoonLight ID #9280QPL8G): I play mostly ground attacks, so Siege Barracks goes into nearly every army. It is one level short of max, but it sits at the bottom of my upgrade list because my clanmates can always fill my Clan Castle with a maxed one. My advice: upgrade the Workshop or unlock a new machine only when no one in your clan donates them. Until then, and especially at Town Hall 10 or 11 when you can't build them yourself, put your Elixir into the main troops of your primary and secondary armies.

    Siege Machine FAQ

Siege Barracks has 5 upgrades, level 1 to 6: 61,500,000 Elixir and 41 days of Laboratory time without boosts. Level 6 alone costs 27,000,000 Elixir and takes 15 days.

Sky Wagon: 77,000,000 Elixir and 39 days 12 hours for just 3 paid levels after it unlocks at level 1. Its last level costs 29,000,000 Elixir.

Elixir. Every Siege Machine level and every Workshop level is paid with Elixir.

No. The Workshop level only unlocks each machine. Higher machine levels are researched in the Laboratory.
